Clinical use

The clinical trials were conducted in the hospitals of the Internal Diseases Chair at Leningrad Sanitary-Hygienic Medical Institute, Pediatrics Department at Tajik Medical Institute and Kyrgyz State Medical Institute, the EENT Disorders Chair at Karaganda Medical Institute, and at Tashkent Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy.
1 tablet of Shilajit = 0.2 gram = 200 mg
0,1 g = 100 mg = 1/2 of the tablet
1% solution = 0.1 gram of Shilajit + 10 ml of water (solutions with the concentration below 30% should be used within 24 hours)
The recommendations with the references to the author contain the results of clinical trials. All other recommendations contain folk medicine recipes. Check with your doctor before using Shilajit.

Peptic ulcer (Y.Nuraliev 1985)

Shilajit is used in combination with dietotherapy. The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 100 mg, twice a day, 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 24-26 days. The preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The ache is relieved within 15-20 minutes after the administration. Complete ache relief is achieved within 7-10 days after the beginning of the course. All dyspeptic symptoms (nausea, vomiting, heartburn, burping, etc.) disappear within 7-10 days after the beginning of the course. Frequent constipation is alleviated within 6-15 days after the beginning of the course. Stools become more regular. Inflammation disappears and trophicity of the stomach mucosa normalizes within 8-12 days after the beginning of the course.

Chronic enterocolitis (N.R. Rakhimov 1980)

The preparation is to be taken in the amount of 200 mg, once a day (in the morning), 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 20 days. The common symptoms disappear within 4-5 days after the beginning of the course. The disappearance of dyspeptic symptoms is observed as well. Shilajit demonstrates anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and local anaesthetic effect. It also stimulates regeneration of tissues.

Ulcerative colitis (A. Vishnevskiy 1972, U.A. Askarov 1980, N.R. Rakhimov 1980)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 100 mg, twice a day (mornings and evenings), 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 25-30 days. The preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The course includes concomitant topical rectal administration of Shilajit through micro-enemas (50-150 ml of 4% aqueous solution) and in suppositories containing 100 mg of the preparation. The preparation has a favorable effect on the organism in general, as well as functions of the stomach, duodenum and lower parts of large intestine. Shilajit improves the trophicity of the mucosas and makes them less vulnerable. The preparation also reduces the number of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria and helps cure ulcers. At the end of the course, the processes that are completely reverse to ulceration are observed.

Proctitis and sphincteritis (N.R. Rakhimov 1980)

The preparation is applied directly to the area in suppository form in the amount of 100 mg. It is used three times a day for 25-30 days. A significant reduction or complete disappearance of inflammation is observed throughout the course. Other results included curing of ulcers and erosions of surface cells of the mucosa, formation of cicatrical tissue over the ulcerated mucosa of large intestine, antispasmodic and pain relief.

Gastritis (U.A. Askarov 1980)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 100 mg, 3 times a day (morning, lunchtime, and evening). The duration of the course is 15-20 days. If gastric acid is low, the preparation is taken 30 minutes before meals, if it is high, the preparation is taken 1.5 hours before meals, and if the secreted amount of acid is normal Shilajit is taken 45-50 minutes before meals. Prior to the intake of the preparation, it is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. A significant ache reduction is achieved within 4-5 days. The pain is relieved completely within 9-12 days. Shilajit normalizes secretory function of the stomach and pH of gastric acid in case of hyper and hypoacidity.

Hepatitis

3% solution of Shilajit is to be taken 3 times a day one hour before meals. Dosage regimen: dosage generally begins at 30 drops/day and then gradually increases every day (3-4 drops are added) reaching 60 by the end of the first week, 1 teaspoon/day in the second week, the third week starts with a teaspoon and then the amount is reduced back to 30 drops. The duration of the course is 21 days. Shilajit’s obvious anti-inflammatory, regenerative and antitoxic actions contribute to the increase of the liver relative weight and amount of protein in liver. Other effects include reduced liver cells disintegration, improved liver blood flow, antitoxic and excretory functions of this organ, and decreased pressure in the portal vein.

Chronic cholecystitis

200 ml of 0.2% aqueous solution of Shilajit to be taken 3 times a day one hour before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. 3-5 courses are required. The interval between the courses is 3 days. A concomitant diet should be followed strictly. Shilajit possesses a mild choleretic action.

Long and flat bones fractures (d.m.n., prof. A. Shakirov 1980)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg twice a day (morning and evening) on the 1-3 mg/kg basis. The preparation is taken 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 24-26 days. Prior to the intake of the preparation, it is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The interval should not exceed 5 days. A repeated course is necessary in the cases of nonunions or fractures of large bones. Pediatric patients (V.Ismailova 1969) are prescribed 2-3 intakes of the preparation daily, 30 minutes before meals. The dosage varies depending on the age of patients: under 5 years 100-200 mg, 5-10 years 200-400 mg, 10-15 years 400-500 mg a day. Shilajit accelerates the formation of callus and shortens the period of consolidation by 13-17 days (on average). It also improves overall health, normalizes sleep, improves appetite, relieves pain in the fractured area, reduces pathological mobility period, promptly relieves edemas, resorbs hematomas, quickly restores functionality of the limb and helps patients return back to work.

Dislocations, ligament sprain (d.m.n. A.Shakirov 1980)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 ml on an empty stomach. The preparation is taken once a day internally and also rubbed into the injured area. The solution is prepared as follows: 600 mg of Shilajit are dissolved in very small amount of water, attar of roses or other oil is added to obtain 1 teaspoon of preparation. Then 0.5 l of white beans broth and 3-4 chicken egg yolks are added. Treatment of dislocation requires one week-long course.

Festering wounds (d.m.n., prof. A.Shakirov 1980)

The preparation in the form of 1-10% solution is applied under the dressing directly to the area twice a day. A light burning sensation appears for a short time. 200 mg of Shilajit should be taken at bed time concomitantly with the solution. The course demonstrated a 1.5-fold acceleration of the healing process. The preparation quickly cleanses the wounds of microorganisms and pus. Shilajit also suppresses the formation of pus and has a favorable impact on quick wound granulation and epithelialization.

Burns of various degrees (A.Y. Foigelman 1970, L.G. Selezneva 1972)

2-3% solution or 2-3% ointment with addition of 0.5% of Novocain is used concomitantly with intake of 400 mg of the preparation that is taken once a day. Several 10-day courses with 5-day intervals are required. 2-3% ointment is used every 2-3 days concomitantly with the intake of 100-400 mg of the preparation for treatment of pediatric patients (K.K. Rasulov). The course duration is 2-3 weeks. The ointment is prepared as follows: 2-3 g of Shilajit are dissolved in 0.5% solution of Novocain or water + 50 g of Vaseline + 50 g of lanolin. No sterilization is required. Shilajit helps relieve pain and suppress inflammation. Other effects include shortening of scab sloughing period, removal of necrotic tissues, appearance of pink granules and acceleration of epithelialization.

Postoperative period (I.Suleymanov 1972)

The combination of adaptogenic activity and the capacity to stimulate regenerative processes in soft and bone tissues allow Shilajit to be recommended for treatment of emaciated patients and use on the surgical, gynecological and oncological patients whose wounds take a long time to heal. The preparation is to be taken twice a day (morning and evening) 30 minutes before meals in the amount of 100 mg. The duration of the course is 20 days. Before use the preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The second course is given after a 10-day interval. The daily dose is estimated on a 5 mg/kg of the body mass basis. This amount is divided for two intakes. A different dosage regimen is possible: for 10 days the preparation is given once a day (morning) 30 minutes before meals in the amount of 200 mg. Three 10-day courses are given with 10-day intervals. The course can be repeated in 30 days. Within 2 weeks patients report improvement of sleep and appetite. Within 2-3 weeks patients’ clinical symptoms and hemodynamic and some biochemical test results improve. The liver functional test results also demonstrate improvements.

Deep vein thrombosis of leg veins (T. Abdurakhmanov 1970)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 300 mg, once a day (morning), 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. 3% Vaseline-based Shilajit ointment with addition of 0.5% solution of Novocain is used concomitantly. The ointment is prepared as follows: 2-3 g of Shilajit are dissolved in 0.5% solution of Novocain or water + 50 g of Vaseline + 50 g of lanolin. No sterilization is required. 3-4 courses with 5-day intervals are required. Within 3-6 days Shilajit relieves pain and edema in the limb. Normalization of skin temperature and disappearance of other symptoms are observed within 8-10 days. Shilajit demonstrates a significant anticoagulant action.

Hemorrhoids. (A.Shakirov)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, twice a day (morning and evening), 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 25 days. Before use the preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The course may be repeated in 10 days. It is effective to combine intakes with the application of the preparation at the anus, use of suppositories (100 mg per suppository) or micro-enemas with 4% aqueous solution of Shilajit (50-150 ml per procedure). The duration of the course is 3-4 months with a 30-day interval. Shilajit acts as a tonic and stimulant that has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It also helps cure ulcers and erosion in the gastrointestinal tract.

Arthropathies (d.m.n., prof. A. Shakirov 1980)

200 ml of the solution are to be administered internally once a day before meals with a concomitant rubbing of the solution over the sore joints. The solution is prepared as follows: 600 mg of Shilajit are dissolved in a very small amount of water, attar of roses or other oil is added to obtain 1 teaspoon of preparation. Then 0.5 l of white beans broth and 3-4 chicken egg yolks are added. The duration of the course is 20-25 days. Patients who had an onset of rheumatic disorders are recommended to complete an annual preventive course. The best time is November-December when the temperatures remain low. Shilajit is taken for 10 days in the amount of 200 mg/day. It is taken at bed time with hot green tea.

Tonsillitis, pharyngitis

2.5% aqueous solution of Shilajit is administered as a throat gargle 3 times a day until disappearance of the symptoms. Complete dissolving of 200 mg of Shilajit in the mouth done twice a day is rather effective. Shilajit provides relief for a sore throat, fights inflammation and has antibacterial action. Prolonged drinking or dissolving of Shilajit in the mouth may lead to its penetration into tooth enamel thus causing a change in its coloration.

Chronic and acute rhinitis (Y.Nuraliev 1985)

10% aqueous solution of the preparation mixed with peach oil is used as nasal drops. Dosage: 2-3 drops four times a day until disappearance of the symptoms. The water and glycerin solution is also effective. Dosage: 2-3 drops in each nostril four times a day until disappearance of the symptoms. The solution is prepared as follows: Shilajit 2.5 g + water 10 ml + glycerin 10 ml. Shilajit is dissolved in the water to which glycerin is added. Next, the solution is filtered and stored in the refrigerator. The solution is to be warmed up before use. Shilajit liquefies mucus and facilitates its evacuation after which more drops should be instilled. 10% solution of Shilajit prepared with water or colloidal silver with addition of onion juice (2:1) is to be used in cases of runny nose. The solution alleviates the symptoms within 2 days.

Chronic otitis media (Y.Nuraliev 1985)

After external acoustic meatus is completely free of pus, small pieces of gauze soaked in water-glycerin Shilajit solution are to be inserted into the meatus and gently pressed against tympanic membrane. The solution is prepared as follows: Shilajit 2.5 g + water 10 ml + glycerin 10 ml. Shilajit is dissolved in the water to which glycerin is added. Next, the solution is filtered and stored in the refrigerator. The solution is to be warmed up before use. The procedure is repeated every 8-12 days.

Maxillary sinusitis

10% aqueous solution of the preparation mixed with peach oil is used as nasal drops. Dosage: 5 drops 4 times a day when the nostrils are free of mucus. The solution is prepared as follows: 1 g of Shilajit is dissolved in very small amount of water, peach oil is added to get 10 ml of mixture. When the solution reaches the nasopharynx the head should be turned sideways (to the side of the nostril into which the solution was dropped) for the solution to reach maxillary sinus and have topical effect. The solution is not to be used at bed time as it will cause greater mucus secretion and further obstruct nasal breathing.

Periodontitis. (L. Khabibov 1971)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day (morning), 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. Concomitant application of 5% aqueous solution is done. Shilajit is quite effective in alleviating most of the symptoms and elimination of local inflammations. Other effects include overall health improvement, arrest of the pathological process in the alveolar ridges and normalization of gum and oral mucosa trophicity.

Post-tonsillectomy period (I.D. Gordievskiy 1974)

0.5% Shilajit solution is sprayed once a day on the tonsillar niches (1-2 ml per niche). The duration of the course: 5-6 days. On the second day after the operation a thin layer of fibrin coats the niches. Epithelial cells can be discovered under the fibrin.

Traumatic peripheral nerve injuries (A. Mamadaliev, S.Madyarov, R.A. Amasyants 1980)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 300-500 mg, three times a day, 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The administered dose is significantly higher than a therapeutic dose, thus, Shilajit must not be used for prolonged treatment. The suggested regimen helps restore functionality of the limb and accelerates return of sensation by 3-4 weeks compared to the cases of conservative treatment.
Concomitant topical administration of Shilajit and Lydazum proves to be particularly effective. Iontophoresis with Shilajit follows a regular regimen, and Lydazum (64 ЕД) is applied with the help of iontophoresis into the area of the scar. The procedure is repeated in a day. Regimen: 4% filtered Shilajit solution is delivered both through anode (placed on the area of injury) and cathode (placed 10-15 cm from the area of injury). The preparation is to be administered with an electric current between 10 and 20 mA for 15-20 minutes. The course comprises 12-15 sessions with one procedure a day. Much depends on the severity of the pathology. Normally 1-2 courses with 10-day intervals are required. The suggested regimen significantly helps restore functionality of the limb. It also allows to accelerate return of sensation, promotes flexibility and mobility in all joints, increases muscle tone, improves tendon reflex response, and causes an increase in muscle strength. Pain relief is observed after the first course. The complete course of treatment causes relief of autonomic disorders. Lydazum facilitates resorption of hematomas and cicatrical tissue and prevents their formation inside a nerve trunk. Hence, favorable conditions for nerve fibers growth are created.

Neuritis, neuralgia (N.M. Madzhidov 1980)

Shilajit solution is applied directly to the disease area through iontophoresis (face head pad for trigeminal and geniculate neuralgia). 4% filtered Shilajit solution is delivered both through anode (placed on the disease area) and cathode (placed 10-15 cm from the disease area). The preparation is to be administered with an electric current between 10 and 20 mA (5-10 mA for trigeminal and geniculate neuralgia) for 15-20 minutes. The course comprises 8-20 procedures (10 for trigeminal and geniculate neuralgia) with one procedure a day depending on the severity of the pathology. A course can be repeated after a 10-day interval. Shilajit produces analgesic effect on neuralgia and stimulates regeneration of nerve fibers in case of neurosis. 8-10% aqueous (or more preferably alcoholic) Shilajit solution (V.Kozlovskaya 1966) can be rubbed into the painful area. The duration of the course is 20 days. The rubbing decreases the tone in the inflamed muscle and relieves pain. Shilajit alleviates other symptoms within 3-4 days.

Syringomyelia (N.M. Madzhidov)

Shilajit is applied directly to the disease area through iontophoresis. Regimen: 4% filtered Shilajit solution is delivered both through anode (placed on the disease area) and cathode (placed 10-15 cm from the disease area). The preparation is to be administered with an electric current between 10 and 20 mA for 15-20 minutes. The course comprises 8-20 procedures with one procedure a day depending on the severity of the pathology. A course can be repeated after a 10-day interval. Healing of trophic ulcers, return of sensation and its intensity are observed after the completion of the second course. All these effects are achieved due to improved regeneration of spinal cord nerve fibers.

Osteochondrosis of the spine with thoracocervical and lumbosacral radiculitis (M. Mamadzhanov 1980)

Iontophoresis with 4% aqueous Shilajit solution follows a regular regimen. The preparation is to be administered with an electric current between 10 and 15 mA for 15-20 minutes. The course comprises 12-20 sessions with one procedure a day. Significant pain relief is observed after the completion of the course. Other effects include: reduction of movement restrictions and limpness, alleviation of nerve root stretch symptoms, return of sensation, appearance of tendon reflex response that was not present before treatment. The course also improves overall health and appetite, normalizes sleep and restores functional capacity. It can be used symptomatically and in the form of preventive treatment. High effectiveness of concomitant use of Shilajit iontophoresis with conservative treatment is a result of the strong regenerative influence of Shilajit on the trophic, sensory and reflex functions of nerve fibers. On the one hand, Shilajit has a marked anti-inflammatory action, it relieves pain, edemas and discirculation in the root and adjacent tissues and it also reinforces reflexes. On the other hand, it helps restore the functionality both in cases of neuralgia and neurosis of roots or funiculi.
The application of Shilajit dry compress proved to be highly effective. A 2-10 g plate of Shilajit about 2 sq cm in size is applied on the skin over the disease area. The plate is covered with polyethylene and is attached with the help of elastic bandage. In order to make a plate, Shilajit is warmed up by putting it on top of a heating pad. The compress is kept overnight and carefully removed in the morning. The skin is to be rinsed carefully. The compress can be reapplied in 1-3 days. The preparation that remained on the polyethylene can be reused with additional amount of new Shilajit.

Migraine

200 ml of the preparation are to be administered internally twice a day (morning and bed time) on an empty stomach. The duration of the course is 25 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm milk. The course can be repeated with a 10-day interval. For treatment of headaches of various origin, 200 mg of Shilajit are to be dissolved in 10 ml of water and applied on the forehead and temples. Rest for 5-10 minutes.

Vaginal wall and cervical erosion (T. Shamshina and S. Gershkalov 1969)

A napkin soaked in 4% Shilajit solution is applied on the site of erosion and a tampon is inserted to hold it. The procedure is repeated daily before going to bed. The course includes 6-10 applications. Within 1-2 days the eroded area is cleansed of pus, and within 3-4 days it becomes absolutely clean. The erosion is completely healed within 2-3 weeks.

Infertility, hypoactive sexual desire

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, 2 times a day (on an empty stomach in the morning and at bed time). The duration of the course is 28 days. The preparation is dissolved in a tablespoon of carrot, sea buckthorn or blueberry juice. Egg yolks are added. Sexual function improves within one week.

Climacteric

The preparation is to be taken on an empty stomach in the amount of 200 mg once a day. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. Four 10-day cycles with three-day intervals are administered. The regimen can be repeated in 2-3 months. Shilajit normalizes blood pressure, reduces hot flashes, and makes one feel better.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, 2-3 times a day (morning, lunch time, bed time), 30 minutes before meals. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of carrot, sea buckthorn or blueberry juice (1:20). The duration of the course is 25-28 days. 2-3 courses with 10-day intervals are required. Shilajit helps significantly reduce the size of prostate and volume of prostatic secretion, restore normal urine flow, and improve urine flow in case of retention. It also helps alleviate the problem of incomplete emptying of the bladder. Shilajit is rather effective in relieving the symptoms, suppressing local inflammations, and improving overall health of the patients.

Cystitis

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm milk. Concomitant syringing with 1% aqueous Shilajit solution should not be repeated more than 3 times a day. 2-3 courses with 5-day intervals are required. Pain symptoms are relieved within 10-15 minutes. Shilajit helps suppress inflammation and alleviate the main symptoms within a short time.

Kidney stones

0.1% aqueous Shilajit solution is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 ml, 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. The interval is 5 days. Shilajit does not break down the stones but helps alleviate many of the symptoms and reduces the time needed for recuperation. It is recommended to use Shilajit concomitantly with allopathic therapy. Shilajit has a slight antispasmodic and diuretic effect.

Psoriasis (M.E. Ereshov 1975)

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day on an empty stomach. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. Three 10-day cycles are required. The intervals between the cycles are 5 days. The skin is treated with traditional medications. Reduced itching in the affected areas, relieved scaling, clearance of the skin, improved sleep and elevated mood are observed within 3-5 days of the Shilajit course.

Acne

Add liquid until Shilajit reaches the consistency of thin sour cream. The preparation should be thick enough to stay on the face and neck area without dropping down. Shilajit is applied for 15-20 minutes and then rinsed off. It can be applied on the bandage that is wrapped around the neck and face areas leaving holes for eyes. It nourishes the skin and stimulates blood circulation.

Eczema (A.S. Vishnevskiy 1972)

10-30% aqueous Shilajit solution is rubbed into skin, Shilajit alleviates itching and inflammation and accelerates the process of healing. Inflammation of the skin stops within 2-4 days, itching disappears (or significantly alleviated) within 3-5 days of the treatment. Shilajit lotions produce the most beneficial effect in case of eczema flare-up accompanied by hyperemia, oozing lesion and erosions. Concomitant internal administration of 400 mg of Shilajit is prescribed. The preparation is to be taken twice a day (morning, on an empty stomach and bed time) with sea buckthorn or currant juice. A 25-day course is followed by a ten-day interval.

Face mask

100 mg of Shilajit dissolved in a small amount of water is to be mixed with 20 mg of Vaseline or glycerin. A thin film of the acquired substance is to be applied to the face, neck and hands for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off the mask with a washcloth or with the help of face lotion. The preparation normalizes skin metabolism, firms up the skin, creates a healthy complexion and rejuvenates the skin.

Hair loss

400 mg of Shilajit is mixed with 1 tablespoon of aloe juice, 1 teaspoon of garlic juice, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 egg yolks. The mix is gently distributed over the skin of the head for 20 minutes. Following the application, the head is to be wrapped up. Remove with water. The mix fights dandruff and improves nourishing of hair follicles.

Bronchial asthma

A trial dose (1/3 of the prescribed dose) must be taken with the monitoring of the reactions for 3-4 hours! The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day (evening), 30 minutes before the meal. The duration of the course is 25-28 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The course can be repeated after a 7-day interval. 1-3 courses are required. One of the following regimens is used for the prevention of deterioration of asthma: 1) Internal daily bedtime administration of 200 mg, without intervals. 2) 200 mg are administered internally twice a day for 10 days. The course should be repeated every spring and fall and in the periods of great stress.

Bronchitis (Gavalov 1975)

One tablespoon of 0.5-1% aqueous Shilajit solution is taken 2-3 times a day, one hour before meals concomitantly with iontophoresis. The regimen alleviates subjective symptoms and improves laboratory tests results.

Pneumonia

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day (evening), 30 minutes before the meal. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The duration of the course is 30-90 days, depending on the severity of the condition.

Pleurisy

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day at bed time. The duration of the course is 30-90 days, depending on the severity of the condition.

Myocardial infarction

1.6% aqueous Shilajit solution is taken internally, twice a day, 1 hour before meals. Dosage regimen: dosage generally begins at 15 drops/day and then gradually increases every day (3-4 drops are added) reaching 1 teaspoon/day. The duration of the course is 10 days. 5 courses with 7-10 day intervals are required. The courses are to be repeated in 4-6 months. Continuous intake of the preparation has a beneficial effect on blood circulation in the heart tissues. It also improves myocardial tissue oxygenation and contractile function of the heart.

Hypertension

The preparation is to be taken internally in the amount of 200 mg, once a day, 30 minutes before meals. The duration of the course is 10 days. Before use the preparation is to be dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. The courses are given with 5-day intervals. After three courses a month-long interval is required. Alternative recipe: 110 ml of carrot juice, 60 ml of celery juice, 30 parts of parsley juice, 50 ml of spinach juice are mixed together. 4g of Shilajit is added. A glass of the mix is to be administered immediately after the preparation, as it cannot be stored. Shilajit is not used for preventive treatment.

Heart disease

1.6% Shilajit solution is to be taken internally following one of the regimens: 40 drops are taken three times a day for 7 days, 1 teaspoon is taken three times a day for 7 days, 1 tablespoon is taken three times a day for 7 days. The duration of the course is 21 days. The solution is to be taken with mineral water of room temperature. The preparation produces an overall beneficial effect, decreases blood pressure, and relieves shortness of breath. As the preparation does not cure the condition that causes the symptoms, it is to be used concomitantly with regular medications.

Allergy

Shilajit has a strong antiallergic action. The solution is prepared by dissolving 1g of Shilajit in 1 liter of water. The solution is to be taken once a day, in the morning. Pediatric patients: 1-3 years - 50 ml, 4-7 years - 70 ml, 8 and older - 100 ml. In case of acute allergic reaction, additional amount of Shilajit is administered at day time. The day-time dose is reduced to 50% of the morning dose. The duration of the course is 20 days. These concentrations of Shilajit have diuretic and laxative effect. Shilajit has a strong anti-allergic effect, thus the symptoms of allergy are alleviated within the first week. But despite the remission, the administration of the preparation should not be discontinued. Preventive courses are given twice a year (spring and fall) for 20 days.

Reduced immunity

2g of Shilajit is to be dissolved in 10 tablespoons of boiled water. One tablespoon of the solution is to be taken for 10 days. The solution is to be taken in the mornings on an empty stomach. After a 5-day interval the administration is to be repeated. Meanwhile, 2 g of Shilajit is to be dissolved in 10 g of honey. One tablespoon of honey solution is to be taken 3-4 hours after dinner. After a 5-day interval aqueous solution is to be taken following the earlier regimen. After a 5-day interval both aqueous and honey solutions are to be taken in the amount of one tablespoon each. The course is followed by a 10-day interval. It is recommended to give four such courses.

Diabetes mellitus

3.5% Shilajit solution is to be taken internally using the following regimen: 1 tablespoon is taken for 10 days, three times a day, 30 minutes before meals; 1.5 tablespoons are taken for 10 days, three times a day, 30 minutes before meals; 1.5 tablespoons are taken for 5 days, three times a day, 30 minutes before meals. The preparation allows to alleviate a number of symptoms, such as, thirst, excessive urination, and edemas.
